Sacred Honor

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

No where in the constitution or bill of rights does the phrase "separation of church and state" appear.  What the writers of the Bill of Rights were referring to was keeping a "state mandated religion" out.  They had that in England.  They didn't want that here.   They wanted the government to stay out of our churches ~ whether it be to regulate what is taught or to mandate religious institutions to provide things against their beliefs.
But there is a flip side to that.  They in no way REMOVED God from the government.  As a matter of fact, they infused God from the very beginning of our country.  The very first document of our history, the Mayflower Compact was so overtly filled with God.  And what our great country was founded on.
THE MAYFLOWER COMPACT
In the name of God, Amen. We whose names are under-written, the loyal subjects of our dread sovereign Lord, King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, etc. Having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God, and one of another, covenant and combine our selves together into a civil body politic, for our better ordering and preservation and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame such just and equal laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions and offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the Colony, unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names at Cape Cod, the eleventh of November [New Style, November 21], in the year of the reign of our sovereign lord, King James, of England, France, and Ireland, the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth. Anno Dom. 1620.

"Having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the CHRISTIAN faith....."  This country was founded to involve God in the establishment of the government.

And, when our founding fathers declared our independence, they did so believing and involving God into the very essence of our independence.
And, in such eloquence that is lost forever, they wrote, at the end of the Declaration of Independence, "we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."  Their sacred honor.  Unfortunately, I believe that concept is lost today.
While shoving Obamacare "we have to pass it to find out what's in it" down our throats, our "esteemed" {insert sarcasm} leader has reneged a promise he made to the people of this country.  He promised that churches/religious institutions wouldn't have to do what was against their conscience for the sake of the health care bill.  But guess what?!  We get yet another instance of his lack of  "sacred honor".
{And, we have a woman who was willing to go on Congressional record that she can't afford her own birth control and she wants her religious school to be forced to provide it in their insurance plan.  She willing went on record touting her promiscuity.  Well, sweetie ~ stop running up bills you have no intention of paying.  We, the taxpayers, are sick and tired of you and your kind expecting us to carry you.  We work hard.  We are tired of paying for our healthcare and yours too.   We owe you nothing.  You want to go out and have a promiscuous life ~ LIVE WITH THE CONSEQUENCES.  Or learn to work for the money to pay for it yourself.  But it is NOT the governments job to force organizations who have a moral conviction about things such as abortion and birth control.  Respect yourself, darlin'.  Where is your honor?}
The government needs to get itself out of our churches.   Our forefathers set our constitution up to keep the government out of the church and religion, but it NEVER intended to keep "religion" out of the government.  The leaders of our government need to find their sacred honor.  SACRED HONOR.
