Your help is needed

Are you like me?  Tired of all the political rhetoric and pundits trying to shove down our throat what they tell us we need?   Are you tired of sitting on the sidelines, griping to no one in particular, wondering why things don't change?  Well, I'm coming to the realization that in order to effect the change I want, I can't expect "someone else" to do it.   I have to be willing to get off my butt and do and not just complain.  Smart Girl Politics Action is providing a perfect solution ~ a chance to get out there and do something.   Even if you don't have much time to commit, there are opportunities for you to be able to do something!  Come check it out!

Smart Girls Vote

Smart Girl Politics Action is proud to announce our largest and most ambitious initiative in our 3-year history.   Smart Girls Vote is  a women's voter outreach campaign launching next week in the first of 19 states across the country.
What is Smart Girls Vote?
Smart Girls Vote is a three phase voter outreach initiative geared toward getting more women to not only vote in 2012, but to take an active part in engaging, educating, and empowering their friends and family to do so.  The fact is that no candidate can win an election without the women's vote.  Women have out voted men in every election for the last 20 years.  Unfortunately, conservative women have allowed their liberal counterparts to hijack the conversation and deflect discussions about real issues.  This year, we will not let that happen.
Smart Girls Vote is a comprehensive plan to turnout educated voters.  We will be starting to roll out  the initial wave of states beginning March 1.   The plan will begin in March with the states.............

What's wrong with the Constitution?!

On Friday, Democrat Kathy Hochul (NY26) made a rather astonishing statement at a town-hall meeting when asked about what portion of the constitution allowed the government to mandate a private or religious organization to pay for or provide contraception. Her response was “Well, basically, we are not looking to the constitution on that aspect”.   Are you kidding? Well, no, apparently she wasn’t kidding and while she tried to defend herself and the mandate she said that “basically, the decision has been made by this congress that American citizens are entitled to healthcare.” So, let me get this straight. We are entitled to.................................................................

Our freedoms and liberties are under attack today.  We must not let this continue.  Our voices must be heard.  We can be silent no longer.

Meeting a Congresswoman

My family and I had the awesome opportunity to go to the grand opening of Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle campaign office.  We had the amazing opportunity to meet her, talk with her, and even get our picture taken with her.

She is up for re-election this coming November.  And I am hoping I get to be involved in this.  I have been wanting to start getting a little more involved.
My family and I got there a little early today (as we have a habit of doing), and after quite a few people came in, one lady told us that we had protesters trying to prevent entry into the campaign office.   This same lady told me there were about 25 of them and were very vocal.  My husband went to the front of the building to see what was going on, but the police were there by that time and they were dispersing.   They were carrying signs with slogans of "tax the 1%" and "tax the rich",  had a box of shoes that they were carrying saying things like "walk a mile in my shoes".  Protesting her vote on the unemployment benefits extension.     Here is the link if you are interested.  Buerkle Campaign Kickoff protesters

She was very gracious today ~ she woke up ill this morning, and yet she still made it to a town hall meeting and this opening.  She said in her speech today that the vision she is working for says that "we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights ~ life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  And that the rights belong to us as individuals and the governments ONLY job is to protect those rights, not to grant those rights."   It is refreshing to hear a representative echo the sentiments that I believe.  That government has gotten too big.  That government has taken over too much.  That government is just not what our constitution insists that should be.  She said that this election would be about personal attacks.  She said that she will keep her campaign about nothing BUT the issues.  Rep. Buerkle is determined to make the issues matter.  She mentioned that our state is undergoing redistricting, and no one is sure yet what all that means.  She did refer to the protesters today, saying that it is wonderful that we live in a country where the right to protest is protected.  But that we should not give any more handouts, but we need to give handups.  She recognized the veterans and thanked them for their service.

I was so grateful to be able to be a part of this today.   Being a homeschooling mom, I want to help my children understand the process of our government.  It was also very nice to meet more like minded people in our area.  There was a nice camaraderie there today.  I had a wonderful time!  It is so nice to know that we do have representatives who care about the things we care about!

Voter Registration

Are you registered to vote?!  If yes, AWESOME!  If not, well, what are you waiting for?

If you are in New York State, I found a website that you can look yourself up on to see if you are actively registered to vote.  If you can't look yourself up, call on Monday and make sure you are fully registered.  Every vote counts!

Voter Lookup

And then, you should go to: If you don't vote, don't complain and see what you can do for this upcoming election cycle!

What?! No I.D.?!

Beware of voter fraud in your district.

Who I am!

I am first and foremost a child of the King of Heaven. And I try my best to live out the principles I find in my Bible.

I am a momma of 3 babies (who are not really babies any longer). And I staunchly stand up for Life.

I love the military. My husband served in the Marine Corps (Semper Fi) for 8 years. I served along side him keeping our house together when he was deployed, and volunteering in different ways with the units he served in.

And I support our Constitution. I support our 2nd Amendment right to own and bear arms. I fully believe that our Founding Fathers would be revolting to the tyranny found in Washington D.C. today. I am a conservative voice who is tired of the left and moderates speaking for me.

So I am here, on this blog, as hopefully not "just another voice" in the world, but one that will leave a lasting impression. So, welcome. And please, join me on this journey!!!!!
